Giving money
Duns Parish Church relies on its members to support its work by giving of their time, talents, energy and money according to the promises they make when joining the church.
Money given to the church is spent in a variety of ways for example, paying our minister, meeting the church’s running costs, supporting other parishes, the church’s wider mission, social work and helping others in need. To give money to the church isn’t just to “keep things running” but one of the ways we can respond to God in thanks for all He has done for us in sending Jesus. The money enables the church to do it’s job of outreaching to others better.
Regular giving is the best way for church members to support the church since it allows the church to see the income it is likely to receive over the year and work out how that should be spent and what is possible. We can help you to give regularly in the following ways:
If you wish to give monthly…we can give you a bank standing order form in order that the bank can transfer your money for you. This has the advantage that you don’t have to remember to bring money each week to church.
If you wish to give weekly..we can give you “weekly free-will envelopes”. These are small envelopes which you can use to put your money in each week and place in the offering plate which is passed round during the church service. Each envelope has a number on it. This number allows us keep your financial details private and is especially useful if you wish to add gift aid to your contribution (see below).
Whichever of these ways you choose to give, it is of great help to us if you Gift Aid your contribution. By doing so, the church is able to claim back from the government 28p for every £1 that you give, thereby increasing the value of your gift by almost a third. In order to gift aid your donation you must be a UK taxpayer and have filled in a gift aid form and returned it to Fiona, our treasurer. Click here to view a printable gift aid form.
