Small Groups
Small groups are an important part of our church but why be in a small group? Many people find that getting together in a small group of between 5 and 15 people is very helpful. People find they can support one another in a practical way as well as have opportunities to pray, study the Bible and ask questions together which isn’t possible to the same extent in the larger weekly services.
In Duns Parish there are several small groups that meet weekly or fortnightly in the church hall or in peoples homes. They are for anyone who is keen to learn more about God and to grow in their faith.
Currently meeting are:
The Monday afternoon group for “mums” meets at around 1pm to do a book or bible study and pray together. Under 5’s welcome! Speak to Sheila Sim for details
The Thursday morning mums group is the same as the Monday group but meets at Sarah Morrice’s house at around 9.30am.
The Men only group meets for sessions of 8-10 weeks during a term (not every term) ending with a curry night! It’s usually on a Tuesday at 7.30pm at Andrews.
The Wednesday morning group for women of any age and stage! This group is mainly for prayer and usually meets at the house of Fi McLeod.
Wednesday night bible study meets in the church hall fortnightly on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm. It is led by Andrew.
A new once-monthly Thursday night bible study has begun on the last Thursday of the month. This group started as some of the mums could no longer meet during the day and is open to all women. It takes the form of a meditative bible study and prayer. Speak to Sheila Sim for more details.
If you’d like to try a group but aren’t really sure which one would be right for you, Andrew would be happy to chat with you about that.
