Prayer
We believe that prayer is fundamental to the life of the church – that God wants us individually and together, to bring our needs and the needs of our world to Him. We believe that the more we pray, the more we allow God to work in our world and in those around us.
Prayer is not speaking to the ceiling! It is communicating with the Living God who is powerful and can transform peoples lives and circumstances for the better.
In the Bible (in Acts) we see that the early church often met to pray together and we do too, on the last Sunday of each month at 6pm for an hour. After some worship we pray for the church, individuals, society and the world. A list of suggestions for prayer is provided. Everyone is welcome to join us for this time - to pray outloud or silently - the more the better.
We encourage “Prayer Triplets” which are groups of 3 or 4 people who meet together (usually fortnightly alternating with the study groups) to support one another in prayer. If you’d be interested in being part of a prayer triplet or forming a new one with a few others please let the minister know.
Joan Sanderson produces a monthly prayer bulletin to give suggestions for what we can be praying for. This is usually available on the What’s New page.
There is also a focus on prayer in our small groups where we also pray for God to work through the church and for more personal prayer requests too.
